CA Bay Area, Guys I need your help, oil leak problem. #441793 04/27/04 05:02 PM

Yesterday I discovered oil spot under my truck.Damn, I never had oil leak problem with it. Well the spot is small put will get bigger. Anyway my first thoughts are main seal, since as much as I can see it is somewhere btw the tranny and the engine.
I know thats a lot of work, and since I leave in apt. complex I won't be able to do it, I just move in CA and I don't know anyone who can offer me his garage or spot to do it. Do any of you local (bay area) guys know good and trusted mechanic, I don;t have other choice but to bring the car to him and he to check it for me and if is main seal since he will be there I might replace the clutch.

Please I need solve this problem.

Are there any other week spot, where I should check where the leak is coming from.

Thanks
Ivan

Body Damage is Cool
Hi Ivan

I live in a condo, so I cannot provide a garage for you.

I have a relatively new Rodeo, 2002, under warranty,
so I have always serviced it by a dealer. There is a decent
dealer Crown Chevrolet/Isuzu in Dublin, near
intersection of 680 and 580 freeways. They are located
on 7544, Dublin Blvd, Dublin. Phone (925)828-6500.
You will need to get to their service department.
Ask for Mike Taylor, he is a great responsible guy and
he knows how to deal with Isuzus.

Their prices can be high, but this is the only place
I have some personal experience with (my familiar
auto mechanic guy does not do imports). The good point is
that this experience was very good. They do regular
job responsibly, and they accepted my two warranty claims
without any problems (I have obvious mods on my Rodeo).
They also provide free shuttle to/from BART station.

I have a Haynes manual for Rodoe, but probably you have it
yourself.

If I can help more, give me a call (415)364-1026,
this is my work phone.

Best regards,
Oleg

I live in Sunnyvale but I am working in Milpitas.
Well the weather is much much better then East Coast :))0
Well I will need to find local shop to do the job, I am pretty sure the dealer will charge too much.

Hi,

I live in Sunnyvale also before you take it to a mechanic make sure the oil is not from the valve cover. I had oil leaking from my vehicle and it was due to the valve cover gasket being bad. I found this by putting my hands at the back of the valve covers looking for the oil leak. If it roll down the back of the engine you will have a diificlt time tracing the origin.

I left one out:

You can take it to this place, just drop it by anytime you get a chance (they're open on Saturdays). The mechanic there will often look at it for you right away for a small diagnostic fee. Most other places require an appointment.
