Here's a few pics of my progress to date....

The project vehicle,

The pig,
[Linked Image]

New slave cylinder installed. If anyone knows how much the clutch fork dust boots are going for from the dealer let me know,
[Linked Image]

The pedal bracket out of a 2wd truck was a little wide(original bracket is above),
[Linked Image]

So I cut it in half and removed some of the extra material,
[Linked Image]

It looks kinda hacked, but trying to find another pedal assembly would've been a real pia. Everything seems to work just fine,
[Linked Image]

Clutch master cylinder installed, notice the liberal application of gasket material to cover up my fugly firewall openings,
[Linked Image]

Cut enough out of the floorboard to test the rebuilt shifters (which work great btw). Not sure how I want to do the floorboard just yet. I think that will wait until I get everything else finished and have the 4runner running again, I'm open to suggestions though,

That's all for now. I was hoping to have it done this weekend, but didn't get to spend enough time on it. Getting closer .

Oh yeah, I don't know what I was smoking earlier, but the original speedometer cable DOES WORK with the manual tranny. Sorry for the misinformation.

Thanks for the pics! Almost done eh. I just started mine today. Got the pedals done. Now for the heavy stuff.

Good news about the speedo cable, thanks for letting us know.
Later, B.

Got the 4runner operational last night and went for a test drive. Wow, what a difference! It used to struggle to get up to 55mph, now it cruises at 65mph with plenty of pedal left .

I hope to have it buttoned up by the end of the day tomorrow. I'll post some more pics when it's done.

FYI, the auto and manual tranny crossmembers are identical. Only the mount is different.

FYI, noticed that marlincrawler.com has your fork dust boot for 12 bucks. Hows the truck? Got my auto out today. Little bit of work isn't it. B.

No kidding! Especially when my 22re dies in rush hour traffic . I'll explain in another thread.

I got the boot from the dealer for the same price, thanks for the heads up though.

I've been driving it all weekend and it was great until this morning (unrelated engine problem).

One thing I did notice is when making sharp u-turns on pavement, my truck tends to buck back and forth pretty bad. This is in 1st gear at very light throttle. I don't know if this happens because of my rear Lockright or what? When I apply more throttle it goes away and it doesn't do it in the dirt.

I'm hoping that behavior is typical of 5-speeds with a rear locker .

Runningman,
I'm curious if you swapped out the ECU from auto to stick also. Didja'?

I kept the existing ECU. No problems.

The only things I can't figure out is the wiring for the reverse and 4wd lights. I know where they are on the tranny, just don't know where to hook them up on the truck.
