Getting the Wheeling Fever
Hey Mrwiretender,
A couple more parts.

-If you have to smog the truck you'll need a little smog part up on the intake manifold, called a Dashpot or something. And the bracket.
-On mine, the top 2 bolts from the bellhousing to motor, were the wrong length after the swap. You'll probably need shorter ones like those on the bottom.
-Ofcourse the shifters

I could reuse my driveshafts, crossmember, flexplate/flywheel bolts, torque converter/pressureplate bolts, most bellhousing bolts.

I'm EXTREMELY happy with the results. Highly recommended swap.
Anything else, ask.
Good luck, Brian.

Thanks for the info on the Dashpot!! I had no idea about that and I am due for my smog pretty soon. Gotta go find one now so I can pass. This thread is definitely the most complete I have seen in regards to the auto to 5 speed tranny swap.

Thanks again!

Glad to help! I actually found mine on a 80's Celica with the 22RE, for $6, at the junkyard. :-) It kind of a pain to get on and off though, because the screws are on the underside of the Throttle Body. And don't forget the little adjustment screw that threads into the throttle linkage!
See ya, B.

Do either of you that have done this swap still have your speedo cables?
Or were you able to use your old ones?
I need to replace mine (it broke), so if you have one I can get off ya, that'd be great!
Thanks!

Still like to hear from people who did the 5spd swap on the V6 if there's any different from the 4 cyl. Since I would be doing this myself, are there any tools except for the tranny jack to use?
