Is this old news? If so I apologize as I don't remember reading about it nor did I find it when doing a search.

Make : ISUZU Model : TROOPER Year : 1995
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number : 04V199000 Recall Date : APR 19, 2004
Component: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:CABLES
Potential Number Of Units Affected : 72905
Summary:
ON CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, THE ACCELERATOR CABLE CAN STICK SO THAT THE ENGINE SPEED WILL NOT IMMEDIATELY DECREASE UPON RELEASE OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL.
Consequence:
THIS CAN CAUSE THE ACCELERATOR THROTTLE CABLE TO DELAY RPM AND VEHICLE SPEED REDUCTION FOR SEVERAL SECONDS AFTER THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS RELEASED, WHICH IN TURN, CAN LEAD TO A CRASH.
Remedy:
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE THROTTLE CABLE RUBBER BOOT. OWNER NOTIFICATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING MAY 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT ISUZU AT 1-800-255-6727.
Notes:
CUSTOMERS CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION’S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).

The above is from the NHTSA site and there is one for each year of the recall - http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/p...2004&type=E&summary=true

mine did get stuck wide open at 107,000 miles. i used to push the gas peddle in once or twice before i started it and one time it got stuck wide a$$ open, i had to take the key out of the ignition, [color:"brown"]I saw 7200 RPM!!![/color]. i had my mechanic replace the whole throttle cable. it wasn't to much.

You might try looking here:
http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/recalls/RecallSearch.cfm

Search for NHTSA Campaign # 04V199000

You can print a copy of the NHTSA Recall and show it to them if you have to.

This appears to be a government ordered recall, not a voluntary recall.

Or you could just go to the link I already posted since it takes you right to the recalls in question. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

Since owners won't be notified till May it is no surprise that the dealers may not be aware of this yet.

My Rodeo had the exact problem a couple months ago. I just tore off the rubble boot at the intake. The rubber boot had started to get tacky and gummed up on the cable.
