Hi guys,
IÆm from the Toyota board. I have a few questions to ask on the behalf of a kid I know (HeÆs about 15). His dad is buying him a æ89 Ranger 4x4. He sees my truck and wants to make his like mine (his parents are divorced and his dad lives in Cali). He wants ôthe biggest tires he can getö. I told him IÆd get BFG AT tires maybe a little larger than stock, skip the lift until he can afford to do it right, learn to drive with a limited ability truck and save for the best he can afford next year.
SO, that done with, I know nothing about Rangers. Does it have a TTB front end? I told him shoot for maybe a set of 30x9.50 or 31x10.50 tires while he saves for new gears and lockers.
1.What is the stock size tire?
2.What kinds of axles are under it?
3.Are there any performance upgrades (cheap) for a 2.9 (?) v6?
Any help you can give will be very much appreciated. HeÆs a great little kid, I want to help him get as much out of the sport as he can without making some wasteful choices.
Thanks,
Mark

Need a Spot
the stock tires are probably at most 235/75R15 (~29"), Yes is does have a TTB front end with most likely an IFS Dana 28 center section and a Ford 7.5 rear, but some rangers did have a Dana 35 front and a 28 spline 8.8 rear depending on how they were bought. Some great places for him to look for info are at www.therangerstation.com and www.explorerforum.com.

Nick26,
Thanks for the reply and the links. I'll pass them on to him and check them out myself.
