You don't want Randii's. Trust me. He tried what he saw on TV for the Duralube commercial. You know, running engine, no oil. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> It did not work out as planned.

You have a few options. One is to rebuild yours. I would assume your mechanic did not crack open the engine? Most likely, one or both of the thrust washers fell out and are lying in the oil pan. Depending on the damage, you might be able to salvage what you have. But it will depend on how much damage there is to the block and crank.

Next option is new, used or rebuilt. Either one is going to be in the $1200-$2000 range. I suggest not going used. I did once and luckily I was able to put a compression gauge on it and find out that the head gasket was blown and the valves were burnt. (Yeah, yeah, it blows 175 across all 4. Yeah right)

Sadly, you are up against a very expensive wall. Almost any of your options are going to cost about the same. Then there is labor if you are not going to do the work yourself. A full rebuild, done by you will cost at least $1500. You may be able to get away by cutting a few corners, but...that is a risky gamble.
