Got a question about the spacers and how they could be used. I have a 88 reg cab 4cyl truck with no lift - no torsion crank, nothing. I have heard that people with cranked torsions can install these and de-crank the bars and have the same lift with a better ride. I was wondering if I could install these on my stock ride truck and decrank the torsions for stock lift to improve the ride and flex(what little is there to start with)? What would be the pros and cons to this? Would this have any negative effect on the torsions? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" /> I would think that it would actually help them from fatigue. I would love to have a softer ride up front. I am getting spoiled by my taco. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Also about the bumpstops; do the droop bumpstops have to be stock size and the can the compression bumpstops be low profiles? Sorry for the book. Thanks in advance.

That is sort of what I did.

I installed the spacers and lowered the bars until there was no exposed thread left. With my SwayAway t-bars, I have a little lift over stock, not sure exactly how much since stock was a long time ago. Using the spacers and then relaxing the bars as far as they can go would make the softest front.

I also have low profile bumpstops and my extension stops are spaced down 1/2" per Frank's recommendation.

I think you'd find the best combination of worlds with just a little lift up front. Having a nice ride means not only having flexy suspension but also having enough travel. My experiences were that stock, I ran into the compression bumpstops a lot. If you did like .75" with low pro compression stops I bet you'd get a soft ride and also sufficient travel to stay off the bumpstops. Nice thing about that suspension is you can play with it until you like it best. Another benefit of a little lift is you sit back a bit. It's like reclining the seat a tad.

Thanks elripster. That is pretty much my thoughts too. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't going to screw anything up. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" /> I was figuring on the spacer lift with a slight de-crank of the torsions(to make about maybe 1" of lift) and a 1" shackle lift plus a 1" body lift to net enough room for 33's. I think it will work. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/drunk.gif" alt="" /> Now I need to order up a set. Got to wait until the finances get freed up a little bit. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" />

This set-up looks great, I got a pair of 25mm torsion bars here in the forsale section. I'll get around to ordering spacers as soon as I can afford also.
One question however if you don't mind ( may have been already covered ) How much longer than stock should the front shocks be?

The stock shocks are only slightly too short. Most have simply spaced them with some washers. This reminds me, once I thought I saw a collection of shock measurements on here, I'll see if I can dig them up for more definite answers.

Hmmm. I am glad you said that. I hadn't even thought about shock lengths. Now I can prepare for that also. That would be cool if elripster could find that table about shock lengths. Now just to figure out what extra length is needed.... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

On my 95, Rancho 5167's which are a PN for 4wd Samurai fronts with 1.5" of lift, are pretty much spot on.

This is with low profile bumpstops and extension stops spaced.

I did some poking around. The 5167's have a top "S1" mount and a bottom "EB1" mount. The Monroes for a stock Yota of this vintage have a S4 top mount and LS82 bottom mount. It looks like you could to with an LS79 or 80. One's a little over 1.5" deep, another a little less. Monroe has all their dims on line at their site, you can browse around.

Thats exactly what I did, Went to Monroe's site and found out what shocks I needed and had napa order them. I got the sensatracs. FWIW Monroe Make Rancho's shocks for them so my guess is that you are just paying for the Rancho name?
