I had the Raider towed to a driveline shop. They test drove it and the conclusion: The noise is the transmission, possibly no / low oil and the bearings are shot/ poor. This based purely on a test drive and they also feel the backlash etc is accceptable.
I replaced the tcase fluid 5000 miles ago. No problems prior to getting the diff done. No noticable leaks from the rear driveshaft seal prior to this weekend. AS of this writing the drivetrain place hasn't checked the oil tranny oil level.
Mechanic #1: "We did not lose any tranny fluid when pulling out your driveshaft, the shaft is above the sump, and therefor we could not have lost all your tranny ( edit tcase) fluid. Possibly the extra "stress" of having an LSD rear has compounded what was a very slight whine prior to installing the LSD. ( I say again, I have never heard a whine before )
i AM SO PISSED OFF i'M SHAKING
Option 1 ) Be a sucker, tell the tanny place to fix whatever is wrong , spend an estimated 800$ or whatever and deal with it.
OPtion 2 )Tell mechanic # 1 that I feel the stress idea is BS and that i will authorize the drivetrain shop to do the work and he will be billed for it ( sued ) as I feel I should get my truck back in the form it was delivered.
Option3) Tow ( my expense ) back to shop 1. Pay to have the open slip re-installed.( 200$ ) If the noise goes away, then accept his explanation. If the noise is still there, refuse to take the truck back until the truck is normal again, at no expense to me.
Suggestions anyone??
