For those of you that have not been following my rear leaf swap, I put 3" allpro springs in the rear, and 1 of them when it had no weight on it would seperate and the other wouldn't. So i called allpro up, they got me another leaf replacement and i put it in 2 days ago. NOW, the rear isn't level. the side that has the "new replacement" leaf is sitting lower, if you look at the truck from the back.. it looks goofy now. I figured since it's a new spring it would sit higher for a few days until it broke in. Does this make any sense? the side with the new leaf sits lower... why? Now i feel the truck pulling since I put in the new leaf.

Oh, and by the way allpro sent me a new shackle piece to replace the one that wasn't drilled correctly.

Leaf springs often have a mind of their own. I gave up worrying about which corner of my truck was sitting low one day or the next. Over a week, it'll average out to level I suppose.

On yours, you might check the torsion bar adjustment up front, often a slight height difference there can make a much bigger difference in the back. See if the corner opposite the low one is a little high.

yep....

I told you last post....send them back....send all of them back.

That's poor quality control.

Those springs have obviously different arches in them. So why are you surprized that your truck sits off-level?

Spring steel is special stuff. It's bent to spec, then heat treated to hold that shape. If you get two spring assemblies that exhibit different arches, then something ain't right.

You can believe someone at that company doesn't want you riding on substandard spring assemblies, so send them back and let him figure out what went wrong and fix it.

I checked the front. the left front is sitting lower than the front right. i put the jack up front in the center.. raised it until the front tires were off the ground. jumped on the rear a bit to settle them..and still.. left is about 1/2" lower than the right. If aint it's seperating, or the shackle isn't drilled to the right hole diamter... it's height problems. Mother of god.
I need to deal with someone else. Who else is a allpro "like' shop? b/c i can take this anymore.

I have been running A-P springs for years; you have to remember they are long, flexi, soft springs. One-day mine leans one-way the next time I look it could be level or leaning the other way. Most of the time it is level then all of a sudden it will be leaning towards the PS (that is the side it leans towards most of the time). I finally derived a conclusion and concluded what was causing it. It is most prominent after I fill up the gas tank and the added weight on the PS and the soft springs. It is something you have to live with to have the flex. Looks bad on a DD, but mine is a dedicated wheeler and sees very little street use!!!!!!

If you think something is not right with the springs, take them apart and make sure all the leaves are arched the same and are the same length!!!!

You may want to throw some weight in the back 200-300 lbs for 2 or 3 weeks, that'll help them settle faster.

Are the springs installed correctly? There should be both a left and right side spring. The stock springs are designed with a left and right, whichever side the gas tank is on should have a higher spring rate. You should pull them off and swap them to see if the lean moves to the other side, or if the rig balnces out.

Well, the side that is lower is the driver side, so swapping the springs wouldn't make much sense b/c i'd be taking a spring that is lower or whatever and putting it where there is even more weight. I tweeked the Tbars today (b/c I have no IFS diff or front driveshaft now). I'll see how she sits tomorrow. I noticed the side it's lower on the spring perch (allpro welded on) is bowing down in the center more than the passenger side. I didn't even crank down on the U bolts to much. I used a 1/2" drive ratchet 12" long, and 1 arm to tighten them in proper sequence. I also called allpro and they said give it a few weeks, which I will. I can imagine having no front diff or drive shaft (mainly passenger side weight) might make a difference, and combined with a perch that is bowing down 1/8". Bada bing. We'll see what happens.
