Just curious if anyone else has had this problem, fuel gets low, fuel light blinks and then check engine light comes on?
It did it last month, they said it was a bad fuel pump and still being under warranty it took em 2 wks to get a new one in, that was 3 weeks ago and it seemed to fix it. Well today check engine light comes on again, I filler up light goes off. Heres the kicker....... my warranty expired 6 days ago, Im pretty sure they wont give me any sh** but man if they do.......

Go to Autozone and get the codes run on it.
Something kinda similar happened to me after they installed a new fuel pump in my truck. Turns out they accidently punctured the hose that goes from the nozel to the gas tank and it was causing the cel light to come on because of a "vaccum leak".

My guess is that you had a loose gas cap. You filled up and tighten the cap and the CEL is now gone.

Body Damage is Cool
I have noticed the same thing on 00. If the light comes on, and is on for a bit, the CEL will come one. If I out gas in it, goes out, no stored codes, so, I just keep gas ini it, and dont have any probs..

Now, my 99, which I believe has a bad sending unit(fuel level), the gas light is on all the time, and it doesnt trip a CEL, so I dont knwo.

But, like I said, I havent had any ill affects. It could be another warning, telling you to get gas, because if you run your tank dry, you will more than likely burn up you r fuel pump. I dunno...

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Chase is right about f-ing your fuel punp.
However, go to your local parts joint and buy a replacement cap for $5. A bad cap will trip the CEL, and if the seal is only "mostly" good, then maybe it just takes till the bottom of the tank for the pressure to get low enough to trip it.
Just an idea, and cheap. hth
