2 quarts per 1000 miles is low, BUT, if it passes local smog laws and fouls the plugs less than six months at a time, and does not smoke...who cares! This ain't the gospel...but a few plugs/and a few extra quarts of oil is cheaper and easier than a rebuild!

edit: the advice above is counter to the de-facto and shy god of this board (EB, a fella I trust), but your truck may also not be a daily driver. I have a worn 22r 1984 4x4 that is gonna last forever, I hope, as a short-run Home Depot/light wheeling trail runner. My truck passed CA smog "blowing zeroes" using as many TOYOTA factory part as possible.
