I had a similar problem on my '88 4Runner. Turned out to be that the previous had never changed the brake pads (metal to metal), and the brakes were missing all the Anit-Rattle springs, and Anti-squeal Shims. $150 later I was able to get the clanking in the front. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />
