by the end of this week, budbuilt will have a stock crossmember from a 1996 5 speed and from a 1995 auto tranny. with those, he will be able to make low profile crossmembers for all 1995-1998 T-100's. i think the 1993-1994 ones are a hair different because of the 3.0. at least toyota lists them as separate part numbers. anyway, if you have a desire for a budbuilt crossmember for our trucks with a stock case, give him a shout.

yup, he is about to do mine. i should have it in a couple of weeks. from my crossmembers that i sent him (5 speed and auto), and the dimensions i gave him, he should be able to do it no problem.

forgive my ignorance, but what are the perks of going bud built? clearance? strength? less vibration? (was there vibration?)

you will gain about 2" of clearance over a stock crossmember. since i have drilled mine on rocks, i could have used that 2". with my drivetrain lift, it will give me about 3.5-4" of extra clearance.

I've had numerous e-mail exchanges with him but he didn't sound too keen on doing one for our trucks. However you got him to do it matters not. I am definitely going to get one but I still don't know what to do about a drivetrain lift. I have one I acquired from Roger Brown www.4crawler.com but I haven't seen anyone post how to resolve the issues of changing driveline angles. I believe adding the transfercase lift and motor mount lift messes with the center-bearing and I seem to remember Surlyn having vibration issues up front. If you got any answers this thread appears to be appropriate. Brew

well i guess it will be harder for bud to say no when he has a stock one in his hands. he may ask more $$ since it is very low production.
i installed a 2" drivetrain lift at both teh motor mounts and tcase. that caused a very bad angle on the front half of the rear shaft. high vibes at 50-55+ mph. i then swapped the tcase lift for a 1" unit. that fixed the rear driveline vibes, but i seemed to notice something else up front. it was probably just my imagination since i have never had a problem and erikb runs the same thing successfully. i would just ask bud make you a crossmember with a 1" lift. you cannot go to a 1 piece shaft at 66". it is just too long. you could notch your crossmember that holds the carrier bearing and then lift the carrier bearing 2". then you could get a full 2" lift at the tcase and have no vibes at all. you'd just have to rotate your rear pinion up a little higher, but that is easy.
