Saw a post by Big Blue a while back where he said he prefered Aluminum for lift parts... So @ work today these fell from the Sky.. yea, that's it, from the sky... 2" Alum coil spacers, I make Aluminum some days between meetings, training, & safety permits... I estimated the dementions, so we'll have to see how well they fit. Installing them & my new KYB's TOMORROW!

Fixed your non-working pic for you.
Those spacers look very nice (much more effective that the rubber ones I have). Hope they work as good as they look!

I always wondered if you should coat aluminum before using it anywhere on the body/frame - isn't there something about the steel corroding faster when it's in contact with aluminum or am I remembering it wrong?

Thanks Phil, Something I did? or was it monty-pics? Shawn: I don't know about the electrolisis (sp?) factor. I think I'll just install them & have a look in a few months. Spose I could coat them with some rino-in-a-can... Anyone else have any thoughts on this?
Lookin @ installin spacers, KYB's & sliders this weekend, and a transmission filter change & pcv valve... during the commercials Happy Trails Bob

Yes, aluminum in contact with steel will promote galvanic corrosion. Add a coat of paint between the two surfaces or maybe some herculiner, undercoating, etc. and that should take care of it.

Thanks Lee, I had the same thoughts after I posted last... These were a real BEAR to install. Took me all day (well... 6 hours anyway) for the two and my new KYB's on the rear. I had to run back to NAPA and buy a cheap set of spring compressors. Then I compressed the coils to about 12" from 16"+ for installation. that was the scary part. Kept waiting for one of those clamps to break and take my head off Getting the spring compressors off after installation was somewhat of a chore as well. They did fit very nice though and 2 more inches of lift My tires are starting to look a little small... $$$ waz up wit dat

Yes, aluminum in contact with steel will promote galvanic corrosion. Add a coat of paint between the two surfaces or maybe some herculiner, undercoating, etc. and that should take care of it. true BUT, how many years (dozens, hundreds??) will it take until there is enough corrosion to make a difference in height, or structurial properties. Depends on where you are. In the NE, with salt, the aluminum will be eaten away SIGNIFICANTLY in a few years. Here in the NW, you could probably get away with it indefinately.
