Synthetics all the way around, manual hubs, good tire pressure, servicing and an easy foot on the gas is about all we can do here. Unless it is possible, (like most vehicles) to make the engine more efficent with more air in, more air out. Better intake properties better exhaust. I read in one of the OZ forums about someone who actually cut down the exhaust size from ummm 2.5" to 2" I think... (I know it was a half inch cut down though) claiming more mid range power. He said the Montero's exhaust are over in size slightly. Intake, yea K&N seems to help mileage a bit but not block enough dirt. Either those sneaky Mitzu engineers produced the perfect intake/exhaust system or we have not looked long enough for something better. I just installed a superchip programmer in by dads F-250 fleet. $300 3 mile per gallon increase and freakin 50, 70, 90HP options with the 70 the most efficent, better shifting points....WOW I wish we had a company producing those. Right now I get about 17MPG average with about 70% highway. This is figuring a plus 5% due to my 32's running my spedo + 5 MPH. I thought liquidium got a different reading with a better instrument...
