What I was trying to do was give you a heads up about the possibility of problems putting new fluid in high mileage ATs. Not make you rush to do a rebuild.

My take is that the major problem is not that the junk is loosened per se but this stuff can (not always will but can) then block the proper flow of fluid. Over the course of several thousand miles this can ruin the tranny.

Given that the additional fluid solved your shifting problem, and you haven't likely run very many miles since then, I wouldn't now rush to do a rebuild. Instead I would ASAP flush the tranny. That could get out most of the loosened particles before they have time to do their damage. Within a few days I would then replace the filter again. That should get almost all the remaining particles. Then I would do it all over again maybe in 20kmis.

Again just my $.02. I suggest you run it by your tranny rebuilder to get his thoughts as I am by no means an expert.
