It is very common for a Full Time 4WD to have this problem after that many miles. It is a very simple and inexpensive problem to correct. BTW, nearly all LX 450's have a center locking diff. It engages when you shift to 4 Lo. Comparing this vehicle to your chevy is an apples to oranges situation.
