Guy i have to ask you what you think of this trade. I hardly ever use my trucks bed. I could use 4 seats in this Isuzu Amigo.

The amigo has only 60,XXX miles and my truck has 83,XXX miles.

what do you gusy think about the amigo. I read revies and they all say good things

I am a fan of the Amigo and the motor will have a lot more pick-up than your current truck. You are a pretty big guy though, do you FIT in the Amigo? If you need to carry more passengers than supplies than I say go for it. Your truck is really clean so you should not have any problem selling it.

We have REALLY good Isuzu forums here too.

I'm not a fan of Isuzu's, that being said, I would take a Nissan,Mitsb, over them! I'd take a TOY any day of the week & twice on Sunday, but then again, I'm pretty partial!
I've worked on Amigo's, no real probs, pretty easy to work on and maint. free like Toys! What yr is this Amigo?

Not sure about Amigos, but my uncle has owned quite a few Troopers for his business. They get driven pretty hard and most have gone 300k+ without any problems. That being said, you could always pick up a 1st or 2nd gen 4runner ('cmon, you can't expect to get an impartial post from this bunch )

I've owned Isuzus since 1990. My first was the Spacecab (RWD) pick-up that I had for 10 years. Only problems I had was toasting the head. The aluminum heads are easy to toast if you get to hot, I assume Toyota has the same?

In 1999 I traded it in for a 1999 Rodeo (the 4 door Amigo, or should I say the Amigo is a 2 door Rodeo?) RWD again and still drive it as my daily driver.

For wheelin I bought a 1990 Isuzu regular cab short bed pick-up. Took it on the Rubicon with open/open, 3" lift and 33's. Shouldn't have, but made it through with a lot of new body styling. Still going strong. As for lifts, the IFS can handle 33's safetly, 35's your pushing it.

Aftermarket support for Isuzus are very limited. Most of the stuff for building the 4x4 was through group buy's. These include Tera 5.38 gears, ARB locker for the front 10 bolt, and Tera has some trf case gears (3.07). The diff gears and trf case gears i believe are limited to whats left on the shelf.

I'm not real sure as to what will fit the newer (2nd gen) Isuzus, there is lots of info over at the Isuzu forums.

Depending on what you want to do with the Amigo, Toyota's have a much wider support for aftermarket parts.

I by no means want to discourage you away from Isuzu, we need all the exposure we can get. There are some good suppliers (Joe @ Darlington off-road, Matt @ Independent4x and others).

Yea, I like my Isuzu's

Good luck

Heres one mans opinion. About a year and a half ago I made a decision to not buy a toyota and get a Hyundai so I could get more money for my hard earned dollar. Seriously, who could pass up a large 4dr car, V6, Auto, Leather, Sunroof, every option available and only 50,000 miles for only $7,000 grand. Good deal right. This car has been in the shop (under warranty) every 3 months since the day I bought it. I also have a '97 corolla, and I bet you can guess what has gone wrong with that..... Zip, nada, nothing. I have had to drop a ton of money this hyundai and its under warranty! On the other hand, my toys run day in and day out with abolsolute reliability. Face it, Toyota (in my opinion) makes a better quality product than anyone else on the market. I cant immagine EVER AGAIN buying a car I intend on needing to run reliabilby and not buying a 'Yoda to fit the bill.

When I purchased my old 4Runner, I went out of my way to find a truck with a untouched motor, and not some swapped out aftermarket engine. After a little maintnence the original toy 4cyl I ended up buying will more than likely last well beyond 200,000 miles. Heck, the gauge cluster I pulled out of another 22r longbed has 325,000 miles.

Sell yout Toyota for another make, be warned. I certainly learned my lesson the hard way.

Please do not compare Isuzus to Hyundais. The comparison is much more like Craftsman and Snap-On when you are talking toyota and isuzu. The isuzu will run forever just like a toyota assuming you take care of it. Both are great products.

You have to make some other descisions before you start looking for another truck in my opinion.

If you want power, well you are going to be hurtin in just about any Toyota (truck or SUV that is). You will be a bit better off in any isuzu than in any toy up until somewhere around 97.

If you can sacrifice power and only want two doors. I would say in a heart beat to go for a 1985-1989 4 runner. 4cyl though. I am not partial to that silly v6 that had problems up until 97.

If you want to offroad well then get something that doesnt have IFS. And only the 85 4runner/trucks and the Land cruisers fall under this category. Solid/Straight axle swaps are an investment of lots of time and money.

Make a few decisions about what you want first then decide. Power?? IFS (can you live with it?), Cargo room? 4 or 2 doors?? Then decide.

Not sure why you are saying that you can't have power til 97... no significant changes that year that I know of. the 3.0 that you were referring to was used up untill 95 when the 3.4 tacoma/4runner engine took over. It has plenty of power so I'm sure you weren't talking about it.
