Here's the deal.I have a 95.5 Rodeo with the 3.2 SOHC and an auto tranny.
The other day I went to pick the wife up from work and on the way there it died and when I refired it the check tranny light was flashing and it was in a sorta "limp mode".
This happened more frequently until Saturday when it died and took forever to refire.Again this tranny light came on.Now after changing plugs, wires, fuel filter and fuel pump and checking to see if the injectors are firing and to see if I have spark it will not start at all.The Tranny light seems to be working great though.
I have been through my Haynes manual so many times I almost know it word for word.I haven't found anything in it about what's happening. All the stuff it recommends to check for "turning over but not starting"have either been replaced or checked.
Anyone have any ideas???I am lost???If I had any shells for the shotgun one of us would be dead by morning...That Rodeo and me can't be livin under the same roof if it's gonna act like this!

Check the alternator. Did you have the recall done for the overcharging alternator issue yet?

No I didn't.
I will give that a shot.
Will the alternator keep it from starting??It turns over just fine it just won't fire???

I recall reading some post awhile back about the fuel pump circuit being driven off the alternator or something like that. Someone else can chime in on that.
The fact that your transmission is in limp mode with transmission light on means it is likely an electronic issue, not simply a spark or fuel issue by itself.

The alternator wasn't it?? Thoroughly check all grounds maybe? That could cause some gremlins. Good luck!!!
