Getting the Wheeling Fever
hey....that plug fit there, although the female end is like a cyan color, and the plug is a green similar to the toyota forums logo. Also, The only oddity i feel in the dist. is a slight movement of the shaft, like its going over an indentation when it gets to the 1,2,3, and 4 contact points it seems. is this normal, or not?

No its not normal, check your gap between the signal pickup and the stator (reluctor?) ah hell...that thingy with the 4 points on it mounted low on the shaft!!! lol
The gap from the signal pickup to the contact ends of that thingy is supposed to be between .008 and .016, I set mine to .012. Sounds like your clearance might be in the range of ....ummm well .000 to .000 which is a good way to break and burn things. If you want to check the condition of the signal pickup stick the probes of a meter into the end of the plug and you should have a resistance of like 140-180 Ohms.

**PS use non-ferrous feeler gauges if ya got em...them are the copper colored ones.

Inside your distributor there is something called a signal pickup. It mounts to the bottom of the inside of the distributor and has the wires that pass through the body to the outside...should have a green plug. You need to check the air gap between the 4 pointed signal rotor and the little metal signal pickup that the wires go into. If you are feeling a "speedbump" at all 4 ignition points...I think you have no air gap. To adjust you loosen the mounting screws and open or shut the gap with a flat tip screwdriver. Picture is of the signal pickup. Damn...wheres all the good pics!!!

ok i got a prob..i switched dist.s and now, instead of 1 and 3 firing, 1 and 4 are firing, and 2 and 3 are cold. wtf chuck. you wouldnt happen to have a phone # i could call for some help? i wouldnt stalk ya, i swear <img border="0" alt="[Hillbilly]" title="" src="graemlins/notooth.gif" /> . just some live help would be so much more helpful. Im thinking it might be the ignition coil now? that little box on top of the coil itself...
