I was changing my oil / lubing zerks this morning when I noticed a couple of unused holes right near the passenger side of the crossmember. Looks like a skid should bolt right into it, although I don't see a mounting spot (holes) near the end of the skid directly beneath the front axle. Is there supposed to be one there? How many should I have altogether?

I have 3 on my Gen 2.5 front skid plate, rear and the 3rd is right between the two A-arms uner the front axle.
I'll try and take some pics if you need them.

No need, but thanks for the kind offer. I have at least four. Sure looks like SOMETHING should go there. I probably unbolted it in my sleep.

I have 3 as well, same as Angelo stated. I wouldn't mind having another below the transfer case.

Where did you get 4 from There are plenty of other spots I would like to cover up with steel also. With sliders, steel bumpers and full armor underneath, you could parctically slide across rocks (well, not really, but with a lil more confidence)

Well if you count the two pieces in front the little one under the transfer case, and the gas tank you get four. BTW I took off my gas tank skid and POR15'd it. Unbelievably flimsy. Explains why my first Gen2's got so dented up. Definitely a mod to put on the list. There is a place for another, not sure which countries included this but on my little Gen2.5 model from Auto Art it has it on there: ![[Linked Image]](http://montero4x4.com/upload/monte-images/Elusiveskid.JPG)

Interesting Man, Even toys have more protection than we do Has anyone done any extra custom skid plate protection other than the factory ones? Lets see some pics later, Angelo

Well, I don't know if personally I'd want to rely on my metal to sail across the rock , but the muffler sure does look awfully exposed. Problem is, I wonder about heat build up. Maybe drill it out? Then it might tend to drag ,though, as the rock crystals grab the hole edges. Thinking out loud. I want sliders too.

My rear skid is a little rusty since the day I had to rock myself out of a creek. Been meaning to refinish it for a while - how are you liking the POR 15? Holding up well against moderate (yeah, right )abrasion? BTW, which product did you use?

Thanks for the pic. That's it- the one between the lower A - arms and the crossmember. I don't have it, which makes my transmission pan a sitting duck. Does anybody out there have this skid on their rig? ImageMotel.com - Free Image Hosting
