Seems your caps key is still stuck on.... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />

First question is what condition is your existing motor in. Is it running like it should, how many miles, compression state of tune ect.

Second is what are your performance goals. What do you want to with the vehicle? Drag race, tow, off road ect.

How important is fuel economy?

A V8 is a tough swap and the 727 that came behind a 383 has no overdrive so expect a tight fit and a motor that spins pretty fast on the highway. Figure on under 12 mpg.

You can build a turbo motor to put the power band at whatever RPM you would like.

At that point a 4.3 chev makes more sense.

All comes down to how attached to the vehicle you are.
