Walmart my boy, Walmart. As well KMart, Pepboys, Autozone, Home Depot, etc. Cheap junk sells well, just look at the shelves of it.
I agree. It's all about price these days. Most people don't give a crap about quality. They are stupid enough to buy the cheapest thing they can find and when it breaks just buy another one and another one and still think they are getting a good deal. When in the end, if they just bought the high quality, made in America, Japan, etc, product, they would have been better off. And they wouldn't be part of the problem of all of our jobs going down south and overseas.
Cheap sells so well, that Wallmart is the number one company in terms of revenue on the entire planet. And second only to Exxon-Mobil in net profit. They are numero uno on the Fortune 500 list. Think about that for a second.
Besides, when it comes to filters, how is the average idiot going to tell the difference between a cheap filter and an expensive high quality filter, unless they actually do some research? They not likely to notice any difference in how their car drives over the short term, so of course many people are going to pick the cheapest filter they can find.
The only thing that makes people buy more expensive filters is advertising. If marketers can convince people to buy the more expensive filters, some will.
But the vast majority of people out there are not going to cut open a filter, test them or even bother to read about tests on filters. They either buy based on price or succum to marketing.
