Mudrunner
This is for the rear of an '84 runner.
I know that most guys use Chevy ubolt plates or fab their own.
Has anyone used the ubolt plates from a 2wd
toyota pickup for the flip ? Wouldn't this work ?

Not exactly following you.

I did look at using the rear axle assembly out of my 2wd truck in my 4x4 (both 1986 models). I didn't do it because of the work involved. It wasn't much, but just wasn't worth doing for me. The problem wasn't in bolting the axle onto the spring, it was the rest of the stuff. Frame mounted bump stop, different e-brake design, etc. The match up to the spring itself is just fine though.

I'm not sure if the 2wd spring plates would work or not. I used Ford Ranger plates that I drilled out for my 9/16" ubolts. Seems to have worked nice.

For the front I just made new plates from 3/8" plate.

The 2wd brackets will bolt on, it just depends on your type of shocks that will determine how much needs to get changed.
The 2wd brackets use the same shock mounts as the 83 trucks, but I think in 84 they changed to a larger shock mount.
Other than that, I don't think there's much different.
The 2wd plates are already setup to clamp the spring to the axle.
