It has been done before, and is currently being done by one of our moderators, Randii. Do a search here on the board and you will find information regarding such a swap. I notice you have a 2WD Rodeo. That would be a much more simple swap than others I have seen. Good Luck

I cheated by looking for 5.0 instead of 302. The other thing to make sure you do is put the search parameter past the default 1 week. It takes a little getting used to, but once you know the tricks the search engine does a pretty nice job IMO.

You are searching for too many things at once. Remember, all the search engine does is match terms. If someone did not use the exact phrase you are looking for, then it is not going to return anything. If you get nothing with a longer search string, trim it down. In this case, 5.0 is about as simple as it gets.

It takes some pratice, but it does work. There is a post in the Talk section at the top about searching and there is a link on the search page that explains some additional tips.

Good Luck,
Michael

Jezeric posted a decent link above... I'm still working on mine, so I am staying pretty hush about it to stay focused on the wrenching that remains.

I have searched the web and found good info on swapping 302s... I guess the first question I have for you is are you planning to use fuel injection or a carb? Next, will you need to pass any smog inspections?

Next, tell us about the motor and tranny you have...

IMHO, the motor and tranny mounts are the shallow end of the pool. Sneaking the engine in between the firewall and the front bulkhead, even if you cheat the radiator forward, will be difficult. Fitting it all is tougher....

The Ford distributor is up front so you can tuck the engine tighter against the firewall, but the front accessory dress for Fords is kinda lengthy. You can run SN95 or Explorer accessories to minimize the accessory length, but it will still be exceptionally tough to run either a mechanical fan or even an electric fan.

Ask specific questions, and I'll do my best to provide specific answers...

Hey Randii,

Im thinking about doing the Ford 5.0L(Carb) in my isuzu, i have an 89 pickup spacecab 2wd. Just curious how difficult it is and what are some of the problems you have run into. Any info would be awesome!

Thanks,
Tim
