my front springs are pretty much shot(negatively arched) and i'm looking to replace them. anybody know of any decent springs with around 1.5-2" of lift for the front of a straight axle pickup? i'm looking for something that'll work with my stock steering(or at least not having to go all the way to crossover just yet), but i'm having a really hard time finding any front springs with less than 3" of lift
any good homeade options either?

OME (Old Man Emu) offers a set of leaf springs with about 2" of lift. I have a set of these on my 85 pickup. They flex pretty well and the overall ride is much improved. They also are completely bolt on and will work well with the stock push-pull steering and torque rod. On the downside, they are not cheap at around $170 each spring. Here is a link to a review of these springs OME Review Greg

If you can afford them, ARB's OME 2" lift springs are probably the best aftermarket (non-custom) springs on the market. I would go with either them or have Alcan make you a custom set to your specifications. Alcan has some of the best customer service and friendliest attitude of any 4x4 parts company I've worked with. Both options are going to be around $400+...but well worth it.

the OME setup is very tempting. i just wish there was more info on the net about them, i don't like the idea of having to call just for spring specs.
i wonder why NWOR seems to be the only place selling 2" springs besides OME <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/barf.gif" alt="" />

you could go with the downey 3" springs i hear they are pretty soft and quickly sag to 2" or so

I've run OME springs since 1997 on my 85 4Runner and they are great. They are not super soft and flexy but they do articulate well and I have zero sag in 7 years of rock crawling.
They are well worth the money.

A local spring shop may be able to build you some springs for less money that will work every bit as good as origional equipment. However, I would say that you will get what you pay for. The OME springs etc will be better.

use stock from Jeep YJ springs (less than $50 or even free if you know some jeepers) and have custom u-bolts made for about $35. I have RE 1" lift YJ springs in my 4Runner and they're about +2.5 over stock. add-a-leaf's for YJ's are rediculously cheap if you want more lift. like $50/pr new.
