I bought a remanned starter some time ago and it's dying. I got a lifetime warranty on it. I called to see if they were in stock at Schucks, and they wanted to know if I needed a high torque or low torque starter. I didn't know there were two different starters. A little help please?

Toyota calls their starter the gear reduction type and you would use the highest kw available unless you live in Puerto Rico.

When I needed one for my '83 years ago, my dealer had both. For where you live get the high torque. The cylinder is as big as the gear housing and it will take the extra abuse of cranking.
