So does anyone have a head count/list on who is going? On TTORA VA, we started a list and at last count it was 24 rigs.

Ace, you're going to be a busy man once you get back from your Mexican Rivera honeymoon.

Mee too. I have to travel for work this weekend and can't make it.

Hey Joe, I will need to send you your 4X4Wire.com stickers then via snail mail. I was planning on bringing them up with me for the FCR to present to you in person. Let me know if your plans change and you will be there so I don't mail them. Either way is fine. They turned out great. I have two versions so you can figure out which ones you want to distribute. I get a lot of looks when I go by and you see people trying to read the signage on my rack wind deflector!

so if I'm tryin to run Friday I need to get there before noon?
Ryan

Yep, we're gonna hit the trails by noon on Friday. It'll be dark by 5, so I want to make sure we have enough time to ride the trails for a few hours before dark.

Hey Ace, maybe I am missing something here but what is the definitive location and initial meeting time for Friday morning / noon? I will be leaving here early Friday morning to meet up with everyone that morning and ride the trails that day. SInce I have not been there before I am not sure what to put into Mapquest or my GPS software to find this place. I am looking forward to wheeling since I had to sit it out at EC4RJ. But thanks to Jason I still had a great time riding shotgun on the bunny trails!!

Sorry it's taken a while to respond. I just got back from my honeymoon and have been rather busy with a house full of wrapping paper and boxes.
I will be at the Shell station a few miles west of Harrisonburg, VA on route 33 at 10 a.m. Friday morning. We're not leaving from the campsite until noon, so I figured I would come back into town to lead people to the meadow before the ride to unload their gear. If you cannot make it to the shell station that early we will be departing from the meadow/campsite at noon. Follow route 33 west out of Harrisonburg for several miles. You will enter the national forest > keep following 33 until you hit the switchbacks heading up the mountain. you will see a dirt road on the left side (it's the only place where there is a left turning lane going up the switchbacks) Turn left onto the gravel road towards Switzer lake. After you cross the first concrete bridge, take your next left into the field. The entrance to the meadow will be there. I will post a sign at this turn.
Sorry my directions are so vague, but I don't have a GPS, so hopefully someone else will chime in with better directions for ya!

Damn that's alot of people.

Wow, it's only about a week away. I guess I don't have much time to get my junk fixed and driveable again.

Ace, those directions you gave are about as good as they get. They're exactly the same directions I was given my first time out there, and I found it without any problem.

Hey Ace, first congrats on your wedding. May you have many years of bliss and happiness!

As for the directions, they are just what I was looking for. Mapquest show route 33 W just off of I-81. Here are the directions I was given. See if these look like they are pointing me in the right direction to hit 33 so I can meet up with you and the others at the Shell station:

Mapquest Directions (from my house of course):

Start out going NORTHWEST on PHILLIPS RD toward MATTHEWS MINT HILL RD/NC-51. 0.2 miles Map

2: Turn LEFT onto MATTHEWS MINT HILL RD/NC-51. Continue to follow NC-51 S. 1.3 miles Map

3: Merge onto US-74 W toward CHARLOTTE. 9.9 miles Map

4: Merge onto I-277 N/NC-16 N. 1.9 miles Map

5: Merge onto I-77 N via EXIT 5A toward I-85/STATESVILLE. 126.6 miles Map

6: Merge onto I-81 N via EXIT 32 toward ROANOKE. 165.9 miles Map

7: Merge onto US-33 W via EXIT 247B toward HARRISONBURG. 1.8 miles Map

8: Turn LEFT onto US-33 W/COURT SQ. <0.1 miles Map

9: Turn LEFT to stay on US-33 W/COURT SQ. <0.1 miles Map

10: End at Harrisonburg VA Map

Total Est. Time: 5 hours, 9 minutes Total Est. Distance: 308.05 miles

Thanks again ACE for the clarification on the directions. I am basically packed and ready for the trip next week so it is just the misc stuff to throw in the Runner when time comes.

BTW, I plan to leave in time to get there by 10:00am ( bout 5hrs drive)but if I am running a bit late, what CB channel will some of you be on so I can holler at you as I get closer to the station? Is there a standard one you use? Lemme know. Oh, I almost forgot, the stickers are in hand and turned out awesome! I found a backdrop of the GWNF off the states official site and had my graphics guy put it together with text banner of Fall Colors Ride '04 and then GWNF just below it. They be lookin good man! I hope everyone likes em.

Thanks!
We'll be on channel 4 if you need to get in touch with us.
My cell is 540-226-5335 also. It doesn't work up on the trails but should work fine in town.
Those directions look good. You can't miss the Shell station. It's the only one on rt. 33 west as you leave town.
Can't wait to see the stickers. They sound pretty cool! Thanks again for doing that for us.
