I just purchased a '93 Starcraft popup camper(1900lbs)...Bringing it home was a breeze. Backing it into my driveway was more of a challenge.

My drive is a bit of a slope. Once I got over my trailer backing "dyslexia" and got the camper on a good line, my trooper strained quite a bit.

Any towing/backing up grades advice/tips gladly accepted. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/baby.gif" alt="" />

I have found that selecting 4-lo with my hubs unlocked gives a nice slow towing gear with more torque. Never tried it with backing tho.. Good luck..

I've done this while backing up my driveway. Deffinately saves wear on the clutch. Also gives you more time to correct direction of trailer.

My anemic 2.3 does fine backing my Starcraft Meteor up my 200' driveway (approx 15 degree) as long as it's in 4 Lo . Another trick is to mount another receiver box ($40 at WalMart) under your front bumper and then push the camper up. It might look funny at first, but you get great maneuverability for placing your camper - especially in unimproved campsites and it eliminates the neck strain of looking over your shoulder.

If you go to the Zoo, always take something to feed the animals - even if the signs say "Do Not Feed The Animals". It wasn't the animals that put up those signs!

I have towed about 5500lbs with my rodeo but if its a steep incline you might try putting it in low as mentioned it will be easier on the tranny. when I'm wheeling I need 4lo more for power purposes than for traction
