I have found that selecting 4-lo with my hubs unlocked gives a nice slow towing gear with more torque. Never tried it with backing tho.. Good luck..

I've done this while backing up my driveway. Deffinately saves wear on the clutch. Also gives you more time to correct direction of trailer.
