well if my battery is bad , id like ot pick up a optima battery , but which to choose.
i have a elec winch , mild stereo , cb , a few off road lights , eventually id like ot do adual battery , but it wont happen till this winter more htne likely .
also , when i do get the optima , ive heard i might need a spacer , or can i just change out tie downs and cables ? if a spacer , how big ? would a 2x6, 2x8 type be enough ?

i have red. yellow is if you have lots of electronics. i put a piece of wood under mine to space it up. the poles are on teh wrong side, but now they have teh "R" version that makes them correct.

Optima even makes a spacer tray. I got one for free from a battery supply shop just for asking if one existed.
Whichever you get, don't use the auxillary posts for a winch; they won't support the draw.

Get the yellow top, offers the best of both worlds. Even with a lot of draw, there is still enough reserve to start the truck.

Yeah, the deep cycle still works great as a starting battery...
The yellow & blue are internally identical, the only exception is that the blue has an extra set of posts on the top (that's why I got mine; I wanted more accessory room )
FWIW... Got mine on ebay for 80 bucks (shipped for another 20)

There's actually a blue starting in addition to the blue deep cycles (3 of them) - identical to the red/yellow tops respectively with the exception of the additional posts.

ok , so i went to the optima website , hoping for some up to date info on therebatteries , particualry the model number that i want , and this elusive r battey . the only thing i got was the red top for stock applications . anyone find a better wbesite thta might include the model numbers , off all the batties including the yellow top. i have a very limited suppliers of optima batties in the location where my truck is , like one. so if possible id liek ot get the model number and have him order it , so i know its there .

ok , so i figured out i need the 34r in 800 cca, and i went down to my local optima dealer , and found out they dont make a 34r in a yellow top. only a 34 , which is the one with the posts on the wrong side . i jsut sent an email to optima for confirmation that this battery doesnt exist . but i nthe mean time i figured id ask you all , did you jsut rewire your battery set ups for the opisite posts ? or get a red top ? i eventually will be doing a dual battery set up which i sure will require a rewire .
