Who has done it? Do you have a write up on it?
I would like some more info... I am about to aquire one from an '88 MKIII.
I saw the one at 4x4 wire, but who else has done it? What parts did you use from what axle?

10-4. Also, don't forget gear oil, and a small tube of LSD additive. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/coolg.gif" alt="" />

next question since we got all the parts listed...
Is it worth doing this mod? I orginally had plans for Dual ARBs in my 4Runner... BUT now I am thinking ARB up front, Supra LSD in the rear. My 4Runner is a daily driver, I make long trips on the highway.
My trail riding is something I know that won't give me any body damage or break any parts. I have to work the next day and the 4Runner is my only transportation.
I would like something to help me out in snow and ice... but also help out on the trails.
So what do you think I should do? Dual ARB OR Front ARB and Rear Supra LSD

If I had the $$$$$$, Dual ARB it would be for sure! But, my budget, (and wife) only allows so much. I ended up with Supra LSD rear, Cheezy lunck-box locker in front (solid axle, '85 4Runner). Compared to open diffs, this truck has improved a ton. LSD in rear feels invisibe, but I know it works on the trail!

LSD is not a true locker.. one wheel will spin if in mid air. a waste b/c you'll still end up getting stuck if you ever go into anything midrange to hard. also, midrange trails are sometimes have hard spots.

I think he'll be fine. He already stated he isn't into the very difficult trails. A front locker will do quite a bit to pull him through even if a rear tire is off the ground.

I'd put the LSD in the front and ARB in the back. When climbing, where you need the locker, the rear of the truck has vastly more traction than the front. Also, a locked up front increases the chances for breakage where locking the rear axle for the most part does not.
