My '88 has the same issues. The last [color:"red"] two [color:"red"] engines have overheated on interstates (speeds above 65)and sometimes slightly heats up after driving an entire day but will slowly cool back down. Then it never heats back up until another day! Do you run oversized tires combined with the crappy auto tranny? If not, Id say try a new radiator, its cheaper than replacing headgaskets. Make sure you have no obstructions in front of the radiator. Depending on the type of flush you did, you could pressurize the coolant system and force any trash out. Ive changed two headgaskets because of excessive overheating and it didnt help a thing!I changed my driving habits, avoiding speeds above 65 and amazingly no more overheating. I have no water leakage or consumption either! So my problem has been narrowed to a mix between overly rich fueling with a weber carb and the large tires I run with the crappy auto tranny. A straight shift, I believe, would make me less susceptible to many of these problems. If yours is an auto with large tires please note that the auto tranny w/ a 22R(e) Toyota setup was the greatest knuckle-dragging event, to ever represent human invention and manufacturing. The Mustang II is not too far behind... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" />
