Getting the Wheeling Fever

they gave me a shop that they deal with to replace it at no charge. I'm a little worried though - don't they have to get into the hub to do this on a 4x4? Is it a big deal? This place they want me to go is an alignment and brake house... makes me a bit nervous.

to what I member, yep, they gotta take it all down to pull it out. Hey at least it didnt break on you and you would have to pay for it.

Not to worry <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />, I broke one before I started using a torque wrench. They'll just pull the caliper and rotor, tap it out, use the threads on the new one to press (or I should say pull) itself into the hole. Took me about 10 minutes, and I'm pokey.
This is the second Discount Tire/broken stud I've heard about in a week <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" />

I worked at Discount tire for like 6 months, and I can only recall like 2 times when we broke one. Usually because they had been overtighted before or extremely rusted that the gun just broke it off. But we would also send them to this place to fix/replace it for free.
