Here's a website selling liner products, they have a red trooper completely covered, along with a few others. I think they look great and I believe I'm going to do the same thing. The only concern I have is my ability to do it and make it look nice. I wonder if it is self smoothing (to a point), you know, where it doesn't make drips or anything, it just evenly coats. Well here goes, to more research that is.

The kit that I used came with a textured roler. All you did was pour the "paint" into a tray and roll it on thare like u would if you were painting a wall. The roller is what gives it that sandpaper feel. You can experiemtn with diferent textures by how many times you go over an area etc. Do two coats and then see if u are happy with it.

Just a couple ideas, and or thoughts. Has anyone used bedliner on something and kept a two tone look? My trooper is Navy blue, and then below that is grey. It really looks great. I'd like to coat the truck (Still convincing myself to do the whole truck) and keep the two tone look. The main question I have is, can I do the grey first (over the fenders and below the doors and such) and do the blue at a later date. Right now I just need to seal the trucks fenders. I know the color will fade over time, but I'm more concerned with adhesion, making sure that the two colors will butt up to each other nicely. Thanks in advance.

Just did my '77 FJ40 with herculiner. It actually came out pretty nice. Like was said before, the flat surfaces look great, but the rounded ones look clumpy. This can also be attributed to the fact you can roll on the liner on large flat surfaces, but with the smaller areas you need to dab it on with a brush. That yellow FJ40 in the durabak site was actually parked down the street from me a few weeks ago and I went in for a closer look. Apparently the owner didn't prep it very well, as the black paint is showing through since the durabak appears to be chipping off. Whatever you do, make sure you prep the area real good. Herc comes with a green abrasive pad to scuff up the paint, but this is not sufficient. You need to sand the paint quite a bit to get it real rough where the herc will hold to it. You can tell the good areas when you apply it as it will cover much better than the more glossier areas. Nevertheless, my '77 FJ40 is getting painted as we speak, and the guys at the paint shop were asking a lot of questions about the liner and kept commenting on how nice the tub looked fully herc'ed. So, take your time and it will turn heads... Slop it on and you'll be sorry you wasted the time and money.

My $.02

Rob

MUD- your hood looks sweet with the liner and the hoodpins. I was thinking of hurc'ing my hood, maybe my lowest body panels. But yeah i never got to see the outside of your rodeo in the daylight to see the other lined panels. I will need to see it if you ever get the whole thing done! that will be hillarious! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />
