where the heck can I get the differential? Dealership? Would the dealership try to charge an arm and a leg?

From Kia USA Parts:

GEAR ASSY-DIFFERENTIAL
Options: -LS (w/o Limited Slip Differential)
Part Number: 0K01C 27100A
Price: $558.45
(So with the selectable option being without a limited slip differential, then am I correct in assuming that the default is with a limited slip?)

CARRIER ASSY-DIFF.
Part Number: 0K01A 27150A
Price: $372.35

DIFF.ASSY
Part Number: 0K020 27200
Price: $432.90

Which part do we need?

You need item 11 in the lower right which is +LS. But be carefull, I think the web site has the wrong part number for the 26 spline LSD. Last time I checked, they had the part number fot a 28 spline LSD.

By the way, when you select a vehicle on that website, only put in the model and year, otherwise it will not give you any options in the parts list.
