It's very bad to let a battery just sit for long periods
of time. The plates inside may be shorting from corrosion.
It's best to put a low amp trickle charger on them for
extended sitting or at least put a regular charger on
them every 2-3 weeks to keep them from discharging to the
point of causing damage. I've heard that the solar
trickle chargers work well for keeping batteries up that
aren't used very much if you want something that's
'hands off' for the winter.

Indy

Body Damage is Cool
Hunter, I have a old spare genuine 65 Amp nippon denso alternator that needs new brushes if you want it. It came out of my 4 runner after I did the GM CS130 105 Amp alternator swap.

Well, it's not the battery. Just put a better new one in and I'm getting an electrical shorted burning smell from the coil area. Didn't have time to delve into it, had thhe luxurt of leaving it off at a local mech. in the industrial complex where I work. I'll let you all know what he found comes Monday. BTW I just had a motor swap done over the winter so something may be up. ( good used 22R that went to 22RE with my EFI )
