The Tundra V8 automatic transmission is a very solid transmission, which comes with 3.91 gears stock. I have found the Tundra's automatic transmission to be everything I needed it to be. The stock crawl ratio is 28 to 1 and in low range that increases to 56 to 1, which is very sufficient for most applications. 1st gear is 2.80, Torque Converter is 2.10 and the Transfer Case is 2.57. If you want to get down and dirty with the Tundra off-road you'll need to go SAS, 4:56 gears with 35" tires or 4:88 gears with 37" tires along with the rest of the goodies but you don't have to worry about the strength or reliability of the transmission, as it'll hold up to anything you can throw at it. I also went with the Marlin Crawler to make my pedal control a no brainer.
