i havent ever had a chance to dyno with it , but it definitly felt better , and now that i have a cat back , its even more so .

Incorrect... An engine is like a big air pump; The more air you can move in (and consequently out), the more power you'll make. As for the stock intake, try to imagine a marathon runner breathing thru a straw. The deckplate mod allows for a larger volume of air to enter the box, hence lowering the effort your engine has to exert to pull the air in. I live in a very HOT climate (S.FL) and the deckplate mod gave me better power above 50 MPH, but when I was stuck in Miami traffic I actually lost power due to sucking in HOT underhood air. I also experienced a severe drop in MPG's despite keeping my driving habit/style the same. Needless to say, I'm back to the stock setup.

Thanks Airrikk17, I ordered the Downey Intake for $130 + shipping from truckperformance. Best deal I've seen. Does anyone know if this will actually make my Flowmaster DF-50 any louder?
(more air in = more exhaust out= more exhaust tone)?
just a theory...

Sound wise, it should be a little louder & deeper. You can simulated by removing the stock air filter element and drive around the block. Just make sure nothing gets suck in to the engine. Try documenting the mileage difference if any before/after.

On my T when I modified the air intake box where I removed the elbow, I couldn't tell the difference, other than a little more noise. I may opt for the cheaper home-made version and customize a new air intake of my own. I have some ideas after walking up/down @ Home Depot. I will post it here later when I get to it.

did you check ebay , theres one on there for $95 , its not the downy though . its some other brand ,probably a downy knock off.

yea, the ones I saw on ebay were for 2.7L Im expecting delivery tomorrow so we'll find out soon enough.
I just started running 89octane vs. the 87knocktane. I notice little to no ping and better response, especially w/new muffler. there is one for the 3.4 l v-6 , he hasnt sold one yet , that ive seen , but he lists it about once a month .

i think youll have better luck with a name brand like downey anyways .

oh yeah , cosmo racing was the name it was listed as . but it looks jsut like the downey excpet it had a blue pipe .

Just to clarify... The Downey kit for the T is just an adapter plate & filter; Unlike kits for other vehicles, it does not include a replacement for the elbow pipe between the MAF & throttle body.

WoW,what a difference. you can really hear her suck wind now!<img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />It also helped open up the Flowmaster a bit w/some better tone.
