i'll justify this question by letting you know that on four wheeling weekends i'm going to use this truck to bring my jeep to and from just incase something brakes i'm not stuck with an angry wife and a five year old 100 miles from home. was offered a set of dana 60's out of a 1 ton dodge (85) with all new bearings for $400.00 they'll pretty much bolt right in my 84 sounds like a great deal to me. the guy was in middle of a build up baby on way and wife told him get rid of (junk) around the house <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/patriot.gif" alt="" />

Body Damage is Cool
With a welder, mill, lathe, bandsaw, everything is "bolt on".
A 1984 cj? the frame is 27.5" wide on center, the dodge is 32". Bolting it on is not real likely.
Outriggering the frame, (not a real great idea on an older cj frame, they were weak from the factory) narrowing the axle on the long side and living with a d60 that is 61" wide, ICK! I would opt for door #1 and beef up the frame.

The rear 60 has only 30 spline axle shafts, yuck!
With that, spending money on a 30 spline locker seems like the old flush! PM me and I can tell you more about having that 60 built to have 35 spline shafts.

60s are great and getting a pair that cheap is great, remember the normal price for a front dodge 60 is $500-800 and the rear $75 to $200. The rear could be a D70, if that is the case don't worry about 35 spline upgrades, it already has it.

Before you buy them get "bill and materials" #s off them and find out all you can, Randy's ring and pinion can help and there are several web sites to decypher those #s.
It could be a D44 or a d50. Be aware!
