Well, its not the EGR or dashpot........both those are gone.

I still haven't gotten around to taking off the TB and investigating.

Have you tried removing the TPS off the throttlebody itself? If no...then I aint gonna offer suggestions anymore. If you dont remove the TPS from the T-body then how is the schidt you are cleaning off the return spring gonna get out from behind there? And how are you sure that the spring aint kinked or binding. Take the frickin TPS off the side and clean the spring area proper.

do you have the 22RE or 3.slo. I have a 3.0 and have a high idle, although not as high as 3000. Mine is more like 1600.

Hey Darin, how do I take off the TPS and inspect it on the 3.0. Honestly, I don't even know what the TPS looks like so if you could break it down so even a child could understand, I may be able to figure it out. I cleaned out the black junk in TB still attached and thats when my high idles seemed to occur, but I'm not 100% positive on that.
Engine work just scares me. I always seem to make it worse that what it was before.

I dont know that particular Jack Schidt.....meaning the 3.0L, have only met the one with the 22R-Es.

Should be similar though, two mounting screws holding the TPS onto the throttle body opposite side of the linkage. The 22R-Es have these 2 tiny phillips head screws that like to strip...I replace them with inset allenhead screws. But yeah...search for 4Crawlers TPS page as Im pretty sure he has the V6 info listed there.

Listen to Esquire and search for 4crawlers TPS page.
Your TPS is located just to the right of your throttle body, it will be plastic with a connector running to it, remove the electrical connector, remove the air intake tube, there are two screw like Esquire said, a stubby screwdriver and an offset seems to work best for me, but you choose your own tools. After replacing just follow 4crawlers TPS page and whalla!
Sorry for hijacking the post Esquire!

Good Luck!

I'll give you ONE guess what's left take off, clean, and adjust K? TPS. Follow 4Crawlers procedure and I'm pretty sure you'll get that tingling feeling in that special place
