I have to jump in here. It's NOT a kickdown cable. It controls kickdown, sure, but also controls upshift points, and the clamping force in the tranny clutches. Misadjustment can burn up the box by allowing the clutches to slip. There's a very specific length adjustment in the manual, and I gues you can vary slightly from that without too much concern, but I'd avoid any large digression.
