When using crowfoot wrenches in conjunction with a torque wrench, the crowfoot should always be attached to form a 90â angle with the handle of the torque wrench. The effective lever length of the torque wrench (distance from the handle to the centerline of the bolt or nut being torqued) is not changed. If the crowfoot is attached in line with the handle, the lever length is altered, and the torque readings will be inaccurate.
