I just spent some time on your original post and see where you're coming from and in the case of the click-type torque wrench you're correct that length of handle doesn't make any difference, so long as you use the torque reading as force applied to the extension with the correction formula. The problem here is the confusion that's lost in the discussion in confusing beam-type and break-over type wrenches - just as your example of turning a lever on a fire hydrant had nothing to do with like action on a break-over type of wrench. Anyway.... anyway....
