I did a search and couldn't find the answer to my question.

What rear axle would a '92 Rodeo have? It looked kinda like a Ford 7.5, but I doubt it as GM and Isuzu always seemed to be partners. It (of course) was six-lug. It had drum brakes (kinda small). It was a Salisbury style (at least that's what I think it's called) like a Dana 35, 44, 60, etc. In other words, it's not a third member style axle like (like the Isuzu corporate axles?). It wasn't a Dana 44. Sorry, I didn't figure out if it was four- or six-cylinder; it was in the junkyard and the motor was gone.

If it looks like a Dana44, it probably is. To my knowledge, the Rodeo only came with the Isuzu 10-bolt and the D44, and the ten bolt has a third member.

Its the GM 10 bolt.

As mike said, its a GM 10-bolt. the D44 wasn't around in '92 for the Rodeos.


actually, there were drum brake'd D44's found under Rodeos. i've never seen once under a 4wd, but....

Actually, if you compare the rodeos drum brakes to like an s-10 blazer, which has the same axle, the rodeo has bigger brakes. The rodeo has 10" x 2" shoes in the rear, while the blazer has 9" i believe. But then again, the blazer isnt quite as heavy as the rodeo either. But yeah, its a GM 10 bolt that has the lowest set of gears possible for it. But you can get a few different lockers. Just have to make sure you get one for an s-10 or camaro with the 7.5/7.625 ring gear. The 10 bolts in the full size trucks used larger ring gears and are quite a bit different than out 10 bolt. HTH
