Just bought a can of Herculiner bed coating from the local NAPA auto. Thinking about using this to paint the insides of my 86' runner body panels. Just curious if any one else has used this product and more specifically how well does it adhere to a non -sanded surface. Just finished painting and its too perty to scuff.

I would clean it with napthat or acetone and either spray it with primer or rough it up with some sandpaper if you want the herk to stick. I used it in my bed and it stuck great, but I roughed it up with an abrasive pad (the kind you clean BBQ grills with) and primed it first, worked out great.

Jeep guys scream the values of Herculiner. A lot of them like to put it on the floor of their Jeeps, it quiets the ride, protects against rust, and sprays right off (whereas carpet doesn't)

Speaking of Herculiner, I just did the interior of my truck with it this past weekend. The stuff really works great. I left the areas around the drain plugs uncovered so I can just pull out the plug and wash out my truck. It would definitely be best to prep the paint in some way for its application though. Make sure you buy the Herculiner brand. All the other off the shelf stuff is crap. (at least everything I've tried)

I would rough up the paint with some fine sand paper and clean the area with Xylene. That's what Herculiner recommends... Herculiner web page

What about paining the OUTSIDE of your truck with herc? I don't really like the blue color of my truck and I want a different color. I was thinking about hercing the bottom half of my truck with black. Would it hold up well?

I got the herculiner inside, preped, and even took a wheel to the metal to ruff it up. Looks great and love it compared to that nasty vinal crap!! As far as the outside, I just saw a guy out in west Texas that put it on the outside bottom half, looked pretty damn cool actually! Said didn't have to worry about rust and fixed a few dents before hand so could cover that up too. I think he used duplicolor though, not Herc, because it looked alot smoother than Herc, but might of just been a different was to apply. . .either way, it's great stuff, why not just dip your 4Runner in it completly!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" />
