I also have to disagree with this... considering every single 'vette that roles off the line comes w/ Mobile-1 in the engine. I believe this is true of many euro-sports cars as well.

I run amsoil. I'm a dealer, so it makes the decision easy.

I think Darin's point was, running synths prevents the rings etc. from breaking in correctly precisely because its TOO good at lubricating. Those vehicles that ship with synth are machined to do so. For the rest of us, gotta have a little peen hardening and high point removal to not burn oil.

Many motor rebuilds have come back to shops with oil consumption problems and less than optimal performance precisely because the owner used synthetic before the motor was fully broken in.
