Ok, here's another on the way home from dropping my son off thing. So I'm on my way home tonight and I noticed about half way home that everytime I step on the brake pedal the light for my rear defrost comes on. It only does it while I'm driving though. While sitting at a stop light or at speeds under 15 mph it doesn't happen. It even does it while I have the clutch pressed in. The light is only half bright (except for one time it was full bright) and I also pushed the botton for the rear defrost while the brake was pushed in and nothin bad happened.
Can someone give me some ideas on what it could be and where I could start to look for the problem. I have no odd smells like melting plastic (wires), No cels, It seems that everything else works normal. Well, I didn't work the wipers and all that but the stereo works fine along with the lights and all the dash lights. None of the other dash lights go funky when the pedal is pressed ...... Just the rear defrost light.

Probably a bad ground in the brake light (either right or left) backfeeding through the ground in the rear window defroster and turning the light on! Where ever that ground connection is, you will probably find the defroster ground and brake, tailight, backup, ground attached at the same point. Cleaning this connection and re-tightening it will probably solve your problem. Why it doesn't do it when your sitting, I can't say, but if the ground goes away, the circuit will try to complete the path any way it can!

Appart from the " I told you" thing I would add tho following: I have a hinch that is something to the brake pedal ( when you press hard enough ) you pull/pusch some cables or connectors related to the dasch board

I would agree with a possible bad ground. Just above the fuse panel under the dash is a grounding point for the dash and other functions. Check this ground.

Where exactly is it? and what does it look like? I was under there today and I couldn't find anything. I even took the whole dash apart so I could see down through also. I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking for. The same questions go for the ground in the rear for the rear defroster.

The principal grounds are under the right and left front kick pannels. If you remove the kick pannels the grounds are quite easy to spot.

oh ok, I didn't remove the kick panels. I figured they would be easy to spot without going that route. I was just looking down behind them from the top. Thats what I'll do. Thank's

I found the ground just under the fuse box. Single black wire bolted to the body. Tight as can be and doesn't look corroded at all. Can anyone point me somewhere else. I can't see this causing any other problems yetbut, It's just bugging the heck outa me and I don't want it to cause any problems in the future.

Checked ground connection just under the driver side fuse box behind the kick panel. No corrosion and all tight. Found two ground points under the passenger side kick panel both tight with no corosion. I checked under the carpets in the front and behind the panels in the doors and also looked behind the panel on the rear hatch. Can anyone tell me where I can go from here. I cannot find any other grounds and I have been checking the wire diagrams and have been lost ever since I started. Someone please give me something to shoot for. Yesterday the rear defroster wouldn't even turn on. I just left the button in the on position then after about 5 to 10 minutes the rear defrost light finally came on and the window started to defog. Any help would be appriciated.
