the junctions are 2.75" to 3" hump hose adapters (these get heavy use in large diesel engines) designed to move when the engine twists. I thought thay where a nice addition since just about every home grown intake I have seen so far uses 3" radiator hose with some sort of bushing. I will probably switch the one connected to the AFM to radiator hose when I put a larger AFM in with a 3" OD inlet.

And here I was, thinking you got them from the sewer drain section of Home Depot. Floating unions for drain pipe. Looks exactly like them. They might be vulnerable to fuel, but there should not be fuel at that point. Easily replaceable if they are.

I'm thinking this approach would be far superior to over $200 (!) for an Injen intake or whatever, for my 3.4 swap. I hate relying on K&N (or equivalent) filters, but a foam sock over the outside as a prefilter should be adequate, with an airbox built where the battery used to be.

Let me say, "That's a great looking truck!"
I run a 3" Dia. pipe for my intake, also I drilled 1/2'' holes all throughout my airbox and I got rid of the resonator! It made quite a diff. Believe me or not! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/evil.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/mrt.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/mrt.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif" alt="" />

What made the difference, the 3" pipe, the 1/2" holes. I know it was not the resonator, all that gives you is more noise and it makes you think you are going faster, just like a loud muffler!!!! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Do you give an F enough to explain why it works, or are you just an <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" /> ?

With the 3.0, it is a very restrictive intake & exh., by doing the swap on the intake, the air flows more freely w/o going into a resonator...! The more the freeflow is, the greater the HP and the better the engine breathes...! "No sharp corners,bends..!" Freeflowing >>>>!

I regress, the discussion was with the resonator, not all the other stuff you mentioned. I have to agree with opps, how does the resonator alone affect airflow?

If your sayin its a 'all and done / all inclusive' mod, then we're beatin a dead horse.

The more airflow you get to the engine, (especially on the 3.0!) The more she'll put out! Agree w/whoever, it makes a diff., run that old restrictive air intake! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rodent.gif" alt="" />
What if I told you that modifying the air intake would give you more HP's? Knowing you, you wouldn't believe it! You must be from Missouri - (The Show me state")
Again, if the air is unrestricted, then, what is the outcome?
Almost like exh., what if I have a 2 1/4" vs. a 1/3/4" which one will breathe better? Don't be afraid to say it if you know the answer!!!~!! That's right, the 2 1/4" Exh! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/nana.gif" alt="" />
That's too bad!! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif" alt="" />
