Hardee har har...
It ***MAY*** be in by the end of the ***YEAR***, MAYbe. There's wheeling & camping, then there's hunting, then there may be moving (!), then when the dust settles there may be horsepower. And of course there is that money thing.

In the meantime, I at least have hit the starter a few times to recirculate the oil around and keep dust bunnies from accumulating in the cylinders <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif" alt="" />.

Oh, yeah, baby. Maybe an Alaskan summer afternoon... like from June through July. Gonna take my time and do it in balance with everything else going on right now.

That LUB-lub-lub-LUB-lub and the slight smell of motor oil coming out of the header is a real motivator. As well as driving my wife's 97 Runner and imagining that power (more, with the slightly reduced weight) in mine. Drooooooooool.

You are sooooo mean. You shoot big pix too.
Blue, eh? Maybe I'll paint mine krinkle red. How far did you disassemble the motor before you schlepped it in there? Valve shims? Anything else?

I pretty much stripped the motor down to the Long block....left the lower intake manifold on though. I inspected the inside of the block, with the oil pan removed (everything was clean...the oil was even still clean). I painted all the covers and stuff...was gonna paint it a dark yellow but couldn't find any Yellow motor paint....and I had a bunch of Blue lieing around....that's how it ended up blue. I also painted the block black. Then, I replaced the timing belt and the water pump. and re-assembled it.

I tried to drop it in with everything attatched...A/C, Alternator, P/S and headers......didn't work. Had to take off the A/C, the Alternator and the headers to drop the motor in....otherwise the motor was complete when I dropped it in.

I actually expected to have to drop it in and take it out several times, while I got everything lined up and bolted on....but It went in a lot easier than I expect. I lowered it down once...saw all the conflicts....removed the headers, A/C and Alternator and then it dropped right in. Once the motor was on the mounts (and with the radiator removed) all the components went right in....there's actually a lot of room in there to work....but the A/C and headers went on from underneath....much easier.
